Version 1.3 released

Peng Wars 1.3 has been released!

New Content

  • Two new Rare Pengs to unlock! Bard Peng can weaken Glacial enemies from long range, while Battery Peng has hard-hitting ranged attacks that charge the Peng Missiles for each enemy defeated.
  • Awakened Forms for the remaining Common Pengs.
  • A new Pengiverse subchapter with six stages and two new enemies to fight. Hope your Ranger Peng and Emperor Peng are in top shape...
  • Two new Temple of Awakening maps to explore. Fight through the new crystal enemies and win Crystals of Awakening!
  • Alchemy Assault, a new minigame. Help Alchemist Peng fend off waves of seals and defend the lab! You can play this minigame as soon as you purchase Alchemist Peng in chapter 2.

New Features

  • Collect decorations for your room at the Peng Base, and make your room your own! You can access this feature after clearing map 3 of chapter 1.
  • Listen to music in the sound test as you unlock it. You can even change the background music for the main menu.
  • Change your profile picture for your save file. Your save will also now display how many enemies you've met.
  • Added a casual mode. If you feel like having an easier experience, or want to skip past that stage you just can't beat, this mode weakens the enemies.

Balance Changes

For Pengs:

  • Knight Peng has had its damage toned down slightly to emphasize its more defensive role and keep other melee units relevant.
  • Ranger Peng's damage has been weakened slightly, as it was found to be slightly excessive for its price.
  • Rogue Peng and Slasher Peng, even outside of the massive improvement given by their Awakened Form, have had their damage toned up to make them more viable early-game.
  • While the Mecha Peng nerf in 1.2 was effective in its role of making Mecha Peng less of a win button on select stages, it also harmed its usability for sniping enemies like Harpoon Droids. As such, Mecha Peng has had its splash damage area slightly increased to improve its usability as a sniper.
  • Pawn Peng has had its freeze swapped out for weaken, to reduce redundancy with Skelepeng and give it better synergy with Monk Peng to take out Spiky enemies quickly.
  • Skirmisher Peng has gained a small boost to its maximum range, but also to its minimum range, increasing its ability to overshoot frontline enemies and snipe the backline.
  • Polterpeng have had its stats toned down slightly, so it doesn't dramatically outclass Hammer Peng as an attacker. It's still good for taking out frontline Dark enemies, but isn't so immensely powerful against them.

For enemies:

  • The Leaning Tower of Seals has had its attack speed nerfed, to sync up better with its idle animation and also make it less oppressive towards backliner Pengs.

More content will also be coming soon. Wait for Halloween to come, that's all I'll say for now...

EDIT: Version 1.3.1 has been released, fixing an issue where Pengs without an Awakened Form would mistakenly have the menu to evolve them appear.

EDIT: Version 1.3.2 has been released, fixing a softlock in the sound test menu and nerfing the unlock prices for evolving Common Pengs. (If you unlocked any earlier, you will be refunded Golden Fish corresponding to the extra price.)

EDIT: Version 1.3.2.1 has been released, fixing a visual bug with swapping rarities in the Equip menu, cleaning up special stage visuals, and future-proofing the unlock conditions for Halloween stages.

EDIT: Version 1.3.2.2 has been released, fixing an issue with OBS screen recording and a visual bug with file name entry.
